Personality & Traits
| General Overview | At first glance Evelyn is observant and quiet, but if you get to know her, you’ll see a passionate and loyal woman. She was raised in a community that was very strict and where woman were suppose to be silent. But that never was her thing, she always wanted more, felt like there was something wrong with her for not fitting in. Since her escape she learned how else it can be, and has embraced a combination of freedom with gentleness and observant. | |
| Personal History | Evelyn was raised within the Fold, a strictly isolationist agrarian colony on the fringes of Federation space. The community lived according to the Doctrine of Steadfastness, where individual choices were secondary to the survival of the collective. At the age of eighteen, her life path was mandated by the Council through a Unification Contract, a wedding contract, leading to the birth of her daughter a year later. Driven by the need to secure a future for her child beyond the rigid constraints of the Collectivity, she managed to find a way to the outside world. One day when her daughter Romy was a few months old, the planet received its yearly supply run with materials they were not able to recreate on the planet. Evelyn saw this as her change to escape and with Romy in her arms she sought Asylum with the ship’s captain. Once she was off the planet she was helped get her life together. She met with legal officers to get divorced, although since the marriage wasn’t legal outside of the planet, that was just a formality. She also met with a counselor, who also helped her with what she wanted in to do now she was free. Without having any relevant education, and a need to help others in a similar situation, while also providing a stable life for her little daughter she decided to join Starfleet. With the captain’s letter of recommendation, she was able to enroll in a year of study to fill the holes in her knowledge. After that she joined the academy, with the first two years deciding to take a more general route, and after the second year she choose the operations route, since at that point she had discovered that was where her talent lies. Academy was hard and difficult, not only because she was juggling it with motherhood of a toddler, but mostly because she did not have the knowledge in technology the other has received during their childhood. She still struggles with it sometimes, but after many extra hours studying, she can work with most of. Although she’ll never be a computer specialist. After the academy she received a posting at the Starbase Horizon as an operations officer. After all the studying she enjoyed the relative quieter live on the station, although off course there were more hectic days. She even found time to spend on her old hobby of reading, although the majority of it was reading to Romy, who was 5 years old by now. It was in these years she met an author who was often visiting on the Horizon for his latest research project, Jason. Jason was a historical fiction author, working on his second book. At first, she didn’t know what to do with the attention, and even said no to the first few times he asked her out. Eventually she gave in to her curiosity and said yes. Over the next few months, they got to know each other and eventually became a couple. She served on the Horizon for two more years before she was offered a posting on a small vessel as a Assistant Chief of Operations. Jason, who had finished his research for a while and even published the book, decided he didn’t want a life without Evelyn and Romy in it and proposed. She was overjoyed and said yes. After a short honeymoon they went to live on the USS Zulu as a family. He’d adopted Romy after the wedding. Even though they loved live onboard the Zulu, they realized they preferred live on a Starbase, so when an opening opened up on Starbase Concordia Evelyn applied and after they got word that she was accepted they moved their little family to the Starbase. |
