| Personal History | Born into slavery on the Orion colonies, Jerti was the only child of Baral and Neema. From an early age she always wanted to know how things work. Once she learnt how to read, she'd spend all her free time in the library of her Master's estate. When he found this out instead of punishing her, he had his tutors teach her. She made such great progress, that he arranged for her to attend the Vulcan Science Academy. She excelled in this environment, and even learnt emotional control from living with Vulcans. It was during this time that her Master was killed in battle with a fellow lord. Her Master's death granted her freedom. Unfortunately her parents were among the dead. After mourning for sometime, she requested asylum from the Vulcan government and it was granted. In her final year at the VSA, she met a Vulcanoid Starship captain named T'Lisa Anderson who talked to her about life in Starfleet. Having obtained her degree and Vulcan citizenship, Jerti applied to Starfleet Academy. Since she already had a Science Degree, she was placed in the Officer Cadet School. |
