Mission: Silent Vectors
Location: Docking bay - Sacagawea
Timeline: MD 0500

The Doctor stood there, it had been a while since he was away from the station. He watched from the console of the docking bay as the teams were meticulously loading up the ship. "Careful with the Loaches! Those are for plasma burns!" he cried out.

Kaylia moved to stand up from her chair, stopping just a moment. Her tail flipping back and forth a moment before she joined the rest of them in the Docking Bay. Just in time to hear the Doctor. Sliding up next to him, leaning to his ear, "Why are they for plasma burns again?"

"They eat the damaged tissue and promote new cell growth." Jerti said as she entered the Docking Bay. "Sorry, that question was meant for the Doc."

Smiling at Jerti, Caelyn nodded. "Biologist?"

"Among other things, yes." Jerti said. "I'm the Station's Chief Science Officer, Jerti Chambers."

Caelyn smiled at the Orion woman. "We should grab dinner sometime."

"Sure, I'd like that." Jerti said.

"In any case, you are correct. Lisian Loaches help with plasma burns because plasma burns are not normal burns.” Dr. Rhys paused and looked over to the Caitian Hybird. “When plasma hits tissue, it doesn’t just cook it—it scrambles it. The damage doesn’t stop when the heat does. The wound keeps ‘misbehaving’ electrically. Cells lose their charge stability, micro-currents keep flickering through the area, and the tissue basically refuses to settle down long enough to heal properly.”

He tapped the holo-display and brought up a secondary file emanating from his padd.

“Which is where the Lissies come in. I named the George and Greta, 7th Generation in refinement and gene manipulation.” A faint pause—just long enough to acknowledge he was absolutely aware of how unscientific that nickname sounded, and absolutely not changing it. “Lisian Loaches evolved in environments that make plasma burns look polite. Their native basins are full of geothermal ion venting and mineral-rich conductivity spikes. Everything there is electrically unstable all the time. If something isn’t constantly adapting to charge fluctuations, it dies.”

"It's like thermite. Which is is not plasma based to start with, figured out in the 19th Century. Only plasma is even worse." Kaylia gave a nod a moment, "Hard to extingish, most times have to let it burn itself out."

Doctor Zack Pierce entered the docking bay with his medkit. "Any assistance I can give you, doctor?"

Looking over at Pierce, he wondered why he was here. He wasn't sure if he had any Specialties he wasn't aware of. "Negative Mister Pierce, are you assigned to this mission or is it your Duty Shift at the Hospital?"

Pierce looked at the doctor. "I heard that there was an emergency, and I came to render aid if necessary." He looked at Jamison and smiled.

Evelyn gave a smile back in acknowledgement. She'd been listening to the rest of the group since arriving. She'd been on away mission a few times, but with her last posting also being a station they didn't happen all that often. Having a away mission within days of arriving to her new posting kinda made her a bit nervous.

Jerti approached Evelyn. "Hi, I'm Jerti, Chief Science Officer. What's your name?" She asked with a warm smile.

Evelyn accepted the offered hand. "Evelyn Jamison, Concordia's new Chief of Operations. Nice to meet you, although preferably not in such serious situations."

"Agreed." Jerti said grabbing a container to load aboard the ship.

Kaylia motioned up to the ceiling and moved an index finger in a circle, "Alright, let's load up."

The Doctor looked around, he grabbed his personal gear, and picked up two canisters, one labelled auxiliary story and one labelled main sickbay, "Well Pierce if you are coming grab a box or two."

"Of course, doctor." Pierce walked over and picked up three boxes. "Where do we go, doctor?"

"Good. Take the one marked Main Sickbay. If you drop it, I'll have to explain to Starfleet Medical why half my inventory is decorating the docking bay." Before anyone could respond, the familiar chirp of an incoming priority communication echoed through the docking bay.

Every monitor in the bay flickered to life.

The image of Captain Elia Thorne appeared.

The Captain looked serious.

"Attention Concordia personnel assigned to the mission. We have received updated intelligence from Starfleet Command." The casual atmosphere in the docking bay evaporated, as the lighting went to Yellow Alert.

"Long-range reconnaissance assets along the Cardassian frontier have detected unusual fleet movements. Multiple Cardassian vessels have altered course toward the border region. At this time their intentions remain unknown. Continue with Caution. "

Spenser sat straighter in his chair. "The Cardassian's? I thought they no longer had a fleet."

"Unfortunately, that's not the most concerning development." The Captain tapped a control and sensor telemetry appeared beside her.

"Several of the contacts are accompanied by readings our science teams cannot adequately explain. Initial scans indicate chronometric distortions associated with the vessels."

"Chronometric distortions." Jerti repeated. "A natural phenomenon? Unlikely." She said aloud. "I need to look at the data, but if the Cardassian Union have obtained time travel, we're all in danger."

"But that is impossible. The laws of physics have not changed. The amount of energie needed to pull a spaceship through time requires have of their industry can create." Evelyn added out of surprise of the possibility.

"The readings are inconsistent with known Cardassian technology and do not correspond with any Federation database entries. Starfleet Science has been unable to determine their origin." The Captain allowed that statement to settle over the group, before continuing, "Your mission remains unchanged. Proceed to the assigned coordinates, investigate the anomaly, and determine whether these developments are connected. Until we know more, assume the situation has the potential to impact regional stability."

Rhys' eyes matched with Jerti's, temporal shit, fun.

"Spenser to all security personnel, report to your stations! Phasers and torpedo rooms, arm all weapons."

"Well isn't that just lovely, and it is entirely possible for time travel or shifts from anyones." Kaylia sighed a little bit. Giving a thought of what exactly would have been the cause if the readings were right. "

Rhys smiled at the First Officer, "You're telling me Commander." as he walked by.
